Christmas light contest

The City of Ransom will have a Christmas Light Fight contest. Prizes of $100 for first place, $75 for second place an $50 for third place will be awarded. Judging will be on December 17th. Winners will be announced on Saturday, December 20th at the VFW.

City Clerk opening

City of Ransom is looking for a city clerk to start Jan. , 2026. Hours are 8:00 to 4:00, Mon-Wed. Musst be proficient in computer knowledge, knowldge of QuickBooks is a plus. Duties are as follows( (but not inclusive to) daily entering of bills and payments, meeting minutes and agendas, monthly water billing, answering phon, deall with ccommunity oncers, good communication skills, self-motivated to complete tasks in a timely manner, manage web page, etc. Ideally, applicant can start in November or December so vcurrent city clerk can train. Pay will be based on current knowledge an ability to learn programs. Applicants will b eligible for KPERS. City of Ransom is an EOE. Full time Maintenance person

City of Ransom is looking for a full time city maintenance person. The hours are 8-4 during late fall and winter and 7-3 during late spring and summer. The job description includes (but is not limited to) maintenance on machinery, lift station, roads, reading water meters, and replacing meters, mowing, etc. Must be able to keep logs and fill out reports for the state on water and sewer. Applicants will be eligible for KPERS and PTO. We will base the pay on previous experience and certification. If not water/sewer certified, the city will pay for classes and testing to be done to become certified. The City of Ransom is an EOE. Office closed

Recycle Center

The Recycle Center has reopened. Only cardboard will be accepted. Boxes must be broken down.

Trash rates to increase

Due to rate increases from Northend Disposal new minimum trash rates will increase from $17.32 to $18.00 for all customers. This new rate will be seen on utility customer’s bills beginning in February 2026.
